Loving All Our Neighbours

Family Finances and Changed Circumstances

The coronavirus emergency is bringing about many changes in family circumstances, including household income. It may be that your household now qualifies for various benefits and you could start claiming Free School Meals which, for the duration of the current emergency, will be paid by the Government in supermarket vouchers to the value of £15 per week for children who are not attending school.

Free School Meal applications can be made quickly and simply online. A separate application is needed for each child.

Free school meals are available to pupils based on the following benefits:

  • Universal Credit (provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods)
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guarantee element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you're not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit

More information about Free School Meals can be found on our website.

As we become aware of other benefits that might help families at this difficult time, we are posting the information onto our help & support page.  There is some information there, through a link, about RBWM's Council Tax Hardship Fund.

If you are aware of other benefits or services that we could share across the school community, please do let us know.  Equally, if your personal circumstances mean that contact phone numbers or email addresses have changed for you, please let the School Office know.

Thank you.
