We were very lucky to welcome a very special guest into school today: Ellie Rayer @ellie_rayer who, through the Ascot & Maidenhead School Sports Partnership @SSPAscotMaidenh, came into school and gave a wonderful, inspirational talk to our children. She went on to formally open our wonderful daily mile track with the help of some of our eager runners.
Ellie is a local girl, based in Marlow, who was a bronze medallist at the Euro Hockey Championships in 2017 and bronze medallist at the Commonwealth Games in 2018. She is currently part of the current GB team taking part in the Pro League and, due to injury, is not with the rest of the squad as they compete in Japan.
At All Saints, we are one of the few schools in the area to have properly timetabled the Daily Mile @_thedailymile and to have installed a customised track to help the children become fitter. In recent years, NHS assessments of our pupils has indicated that their obesity rate is quite high and so we are now doing everything we can to keep them moving and, hopefully, a lot fitter and healthier than previously. You can see the flags marking the track from the Bath Road
The pictures below detail Ellie's fantastic time with us and show her talking to the school and signing autographs for those children who opened the track with her.
Thank you Ellie and the Sports Partnership for your time and providing the children with a brilliantly memorable day.
