Governors’ General Information and Duties

What is a Governing Body?

All schools in England have a Governing Body which is responsible for overseeing many of the strategic decisions of the school. A key role is to act as a ‘critical friend’: to support, to challenge, to ask questions, and ultimately to ensure that pupils receive the best possible education at All Saints.

The Governing Body works in close partnership with the Headteacher, staff and the local authority. Whilst Mr Rhodes is, of course, responsible for the day-to-day running of the school, the Governors work closely with him and get involved in staffing, curriculum, the school buildings and finance. The Governing Body ensures the school functions well and maintains the proper range of academic and social objectives.

Who Are We?

In July 2017 the Governing Body elected to reconstitute under the 2012 School Governance Regulations. We took this decision as it allowed us to change the numbers and types of Governors we have and to appoint more people on the basis of the skills they could bring.

The Governing Body now consists of:

  • The Head Teacher
  • One elected Staff Governor
  • One appointed Local Authority Governor
  • Two elected Parent Governors
  • Five co-opted Governors
  • Three Foundation Governors

The standard term of office for a Governor is four years. The chair and vice-chair are elected annually at the last meeting of the academic year.

The Chair of Governors is Mrs Rebecca Walker, who can be contacted in writing via the School Office or via the online contact form which can be found at the foot of this page.

Meet the current Governing Body:

REBECCA WALKER (Co-opted Governor) (Chair of the Governing Body)

I have been a school governor at various schools over the past 12 years, and am an established member of the All Saints Governing Body. I have very much enjoyed getting to know the school over the past few years and look forward to meeting more of the wider school community over the coming ones. My ‘day job’ is in Governor Services, supporting and training governors and clerks to the governing body across the borough and further afield, so when I am not being a governor myself I am helping others be governors! I live in Windsor, where my two teenage boys are now at secondary school.

RICHARD D RHODES (Headteacher)

I have been a teacher since 2002 and have been a Governor (as a staff member, Senior Leader or Headteacher at three schools, including All Saints) since 2010.  I believe that the Governance and Leadership of a school is very much a team effort and I am delighted and honoured to be working with our Governing Body, a dedicated group of people who give their time and energy willingly for the betterment of the school and its wider community.

ANDY SOWDEN (Co-opted Governor)

DIANNE FARMILOE (Foundation Governor)

I joined the board of governors in July 2020, for my day job I’m a swimming teacher and in my spare time I volunteer with Maidenhead Street Angels and my local Cub Scout Group.  My interest in becoming a school governor is driven by my belief that all children should be adequately equipped with the right skills and foundation required to set them up for the future, enabling every child to learn, grow and reach their full potential.

HEATHER FIELDING (Foundation Governor) (Safeguarding Governor)

I've been a governor for a year and as a parent I am keen to see the school flourish and help all pupils achieve the best they possibly can. I really believe that a positive experience of primary school can ignite a love of learning for life. I bring skills from jobs in education, communications and business/community links. I am currently having fun teaching English to foreign students living in Maidenhead.

JENNY WILKS (Co-opted Governor)

I joined the GB in July 2020 at a challenging time for all schools. My background is in Human Resources where I work as a consultant and have a passion for learning in adults as well as children. I have previous experience as a governor, having served for 12 years on the GB at another school in Maidenhead.  I’m looking forward to getting to know the school and to contributing where I can to support the teachers, parents and pupils.

KELLY NAPPER (Staff Governor)

This is my fourth year teaching at All Saints Junior School. I began my career in education working as a teaching assistant whilst studying for a BA honours degree in Primary Education and Practice Development at Bucks New University. I thoroughly enjoyed educating young minds and went on to train for my PGCE with the Windsor and Maidenhead Schools Direct Scheme.  I joined All Saints in 2015 and can honestly say it was one of my best decisions! I love the ethos of the school and enjoy the opportunities for creative and engaging learning. Within the school, I am the Year 4 Leader, Computing Subject Leader and staff governor. I have a passion for history and am looking forward to studying the Victorians later in the academic year.  Outside of school, I still enjoy learning and like to visit museums and historical places with my husband and daughters. On warm, sunny afternoons I like to go on long walks with my crazy dog Ludo, who keeps me active and helps me achieve my daily 10,000 step target! During the summer, I love to travel and am slowly working my way around the globe. New Zealand is by far one of my favourite travel destinations. When I’m not travelling from place to place in search of adventure, I like to read. I am a bit of a book worm and love reading and as a result have a classroom full of books!

SHASTA PARVEEN (Parent Governor)

I was appointed as a Parent Governor for All Saints School in October 2019.  I am also a parent and very passionate about helping and supporting the school that I have been a part of for the last four years with my elder son and now my younger son.  I am very keen to continue being a part of the All Saints family and want to be able to help and support parents, teachers and of course the young learners.  I am able to bring a lot to the school with my experience of Management, HR background as well as strong communication skills.  I also have over 8 years working in the Education field, currently working in FE where I support and manage large work experience programmes for schools and colleges nationally.  I am passionate about linking employers to education and promoting employability skills to young learners.

SHEHNAZ AHMED (Co-opted Governor)

I have moved into Maidenhead only a year ago and both my children attend All Saints Junior School. I have worked previously as a school governor for about 3 years and really enjoy it as it is a way to give back to the community and support the fantastic work our teachers do. My background is in academic publishing.

TANYA FULLARTON (Parent Governor)

I moved to the UK from Russia more than 16 years ago and have been living in Maidenhead since 2009. I have two sons, one at All Saints, one at Boyne Hill. Before moving to the UK I worked as a teacher. I strongly support the links between both our schools as well as our church, All Saints Boyne Hill. I participate in Open the Book project and I lead the ‘Tiny Saints’ toddlers play group on Friday mornings.
