All Saints Church of England Junior School

Year 4

Friday 24th February 2017

We had a brilliant time in year 4 this week! We started our new topic of electricity. We researched natural and man-made sources of electricity, it left us buzzing! We have also moved onto sci-fi stories in English. We are learning about the 8 features of these stories. 'CAT SWIMS' is what we use to remember all of them! Parents: please test us. At the end of the week in Geography, we began looking at changes in the local area. It was amazing to see how different Maidenhead was just 20 years ago! We can't wait to work on all of these new and exciting topics next week.

This week has been very busy yet we have all worked hard. In PE, we have been very excited about learning Bollywood Dance. Each class were given a song and we had to choreograph a dance to it. A feature of Bollywood dance is isolation, which means only moving one part of the body at a time. We have really enjoyed learning the dances and listening to the music.  Science has been really hands on this week and we have really enjoyed making Oobleck. Oobleck is a non-Newtonian fluid. That is, it acts like a liquid when being poured, but like a solid when a force is acting on it. You can grab it and then it will ooze out of your hands.  If you want to make it at home you use, 1/2 cup of cornflour, 1/2 cup of water and add food colouring. We hope you all enjoy playing with your Oobleck.

School closes for the mid-term holiday at 3.30pm on Thursday 19th October and re-opens at the usual time on Monday 30th October. We hope everyone has a lovely break.
