Year 3 are now archaeologists!!! We are investigating life in Ancient Egypt, especially finding out information from what was left behind. Over the next 5 weeks, children will be working on individual projects, both at home and at school. We watched the film 'Prince of Egypt' as a background to life in Ancient Egypt and a link to our Religious Education study of Judaism and the Passover. Fractions are our Maths topic, especially tenths and decimals. In Science we are testing rocks to find out how they are similar and different.

This week 3N have taken part in the Dance Festival. They showed it to the rest of us and we thought it was fantastic. We have still been studying time. We now know analogue time, digital time and Roman Numerals. We have been calculating how long it takes to do certain things, like train journeys. We all receIved our MyMaths logins and have tried to do some homework on line. There were a few problems but most have been sorted out now. We have finished our wonderful stories about a statue that came to life. There were unicorns, squids and even a lizard in a pushchair , that miraculously came to life. We now know that iron, cobalt and nickel are magnetic materials and our knowledge was tested in a board game. We are all looking forward to half term.

Year 3 are telling the time. We have been comparing both digital and analogue clocks and calculating how long events take. We also know which direction is North by suspending magnets on strings and using compasses. Our stories are halfway through, most of us are on our “unfortunately” paragraph—we can’t wait to get to the “luckily”! Also, 3N has been putting the final touches to their Dance Festival routines—the big day (Thursday—tickets are still available!) approaches!
