The last time it snowed, we would have been 5 years old! So of course we made the most of the flurry today ❄️

Ted, our lovely volunteer reader, surprised us by bringing his cockapoo, Monty, in today before he listened to readers. Monty was very shy and gentle 🐶

Today we learnt about fire safety with Maidenhead Fire Brigade!

Well done to our brilliant year 5 readers this afternoon at our All Saints celebration! You read about St Christopher and Tim Peake beautifully.

Well done Lydia!

In English this week, the children were asked to write a story about a little boy who had rubbed a magic coin and shrunk! I was so impressed with Lydia's. Just look at her story opening!

I woke up with a cold shiver trickling down my spine. I felt like I was being held down with a thousand weights. I rubbed my eyes thinking it was just my cat, Goji, pawing at me but as I looked around the room, I noticed everything had grown...or had I shrunk? Oh no, I HAVE shrunk! I thought to myself that this all must have to be a horrible dream so I slapped myself around my cheek. "OUCH!" I cried. "This isn't a dream!"

I saw Goji slip into my humongous room. She jumped onto my bed and sat on my pillow which, by the way, was massive! Goji climbed onto my bedside table sending my water flying through the air, soaking my unfinished homework. Then she started playing with the magic penny. She tapped and kicked it and finally pushed it out of the window. "No!!" I shouted with my tiny voice. How would I ever get back to my normal size?

In RE, we're studying Sikhism and the importance of the Guru Granth Sahib. We spent the afternoon in the Maidenhead Gurdwara! We all covered our heads and spent time in a special room where the holy book is kept. Did you know they even put it to bed at the end of the day? Year 5 were so quiet, calm, reflective and respectful so we were very proud of each other.

Look at Emma and Nahia’s gymnastics sequence using this week’s objective of ‘rotations’. Amazing girls!

Goodbye Athishya!

We sadly had to say goodbye to one of our class members, Athishya, today as she moves to India on Friday. I am particularly sad to see her go as this is the second year she has been in my class! We know you will make lots of friends and be successful in whatever you do - we can't wait to receive your emails telling us what you've been up to!

Malghalara as Pandora!

In our Big Write this week, our task was to write from the point of view of Pandora from the story of Prometheus and Pandora.
Malghalara wrote a superb story and makes a fantastic actress, do you agree?!

Meet Boudicca!

We are LOVING learning about the Romans! Today we learnt about Queen Boudicca of the Iceni tribe- she was one brave lady. Let us introduce you to a few key characters in her rebellion...

In gymnastics we've learnt about balances, sequences and traveling. Here we are demonstrating all three!

In English this week, we role played the parts of Prometheus and Zeus at the point of the story where Prometheus is about to be chained to a rock for an eagle to peck at his liver! Eek!

As we have been shuffled up again for year 5, we did a team building exercise! We had to build the tallest, free-standing tower our of spaghetti and a marshmallow! It's harder than it sounds!! Everyone did brilliantly, especially our winners Yusuf and Qais! Well done, boys!
