 Power It Up!

It's Science week and our theme is 'Power It Up', so we're learning all about electricity. On Monday, we learnt about conductors and created circuits using our bodies! We experimented with 'Energy Balls' and Sensor Sticks to see which materials around the classroom were good conductors... turns out we were very good conductors ourselves... We managed to power up the sensors by conducting the energy round the circle by holding hands!

Our Science topic is Light, so last week, we took advantage of the sunny weather and investigated how our shadows move throughout the day. We drew around our shadow at midday and later in the afternoon and saw how the movement of the sun in the sky affects the size, shape and angle of our shadows!

Outdoor activities
We linked our Dance lessons with our Science topic of 'Magnets and Forces' and created 'attract' and 'repel' dance routines.

WORLD BOOK DAY

We had a great time celebrating World Book Day on Monday! Everyone really enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book characters (especially the teachers!) and we had some lovely book-themed activities throughout the day - including a quiz, shared reading with Year 5s and a visit from author James Carter. He was fab and kept us entertained with his poetry, music and singing! Here are some pictures from our day:

Happy Half Term!

We had a great time making our Mardi Gras masks with Mrs Webb-Morris!

We've been taking our maths lessons outside recently and had lots of fun with it! To help us understand fractions, we raced in teams to find a fraction of a group of bean bags... and for our lesson on shapes and angles, we created Venn diagrams on the playground to sort 2D shapes based on their properties.
To kick off our Science lessons about 'Animals including Humans', we drew an outline of a body and filled in the skeleton, drawing all the bones we knew about and where we thought they were in our body. We had some interesting results... at the end of this Science topic we can look back and see how much we've learnt!

Over the last 2 terms in our PE lessons, we've created some fantastic gymnastic and dance routines. We've learnt about how to travel in different ways, making shapes with our bodies, balances, moving in unison (together) and canon (on our own), and lots more! We tried hard to include what we've learnt into our performances...
